Child Sponsorship – Help Kids In Desperate Need In Western Kenya

Ashley is the youngest in a family of four children. Sadly her father died in 2013 after a short illness. Her mother was mistreated with her in-laws after the husband’s death forcing her to move back to her mother’s home together with Ashley and her siblings. Her mother went to Nairobi to look for work so that she can be able to support her children leaving the children with their grandmother.

The family lives in a three roomed permanent house. They  have a pit latrine made of concrete, it’s clean and well maintained with hand washing facilities. Ashley sleeps on a mattress on the floor. The family draws their water from a neighbours well.

The family owns a farm where they always plant maize and beans and harvest enough to last them to the next season. The family also have a kitchen garden but currently Ashley’s grandmother is preparing to plant other vegetables.

Ashley enjoys playing group games and art. At school she enjoys reading. At home she helps with the chores and collecting firewood. During COVID-19 pandemic, Ashley actively attended the feeding programme and she participated in all the activities.
