Janet is the fourth born in the family of six siblings. Her father died in 2013 when she was six years old. The child was left under the care of her mother who does various casual jobs to support the family.
They live in a two roomed mud house with iron sheet roofing. They have access to safe and clean water which they use for cooking and cleaning. Janet lacks proper bedding, she sleeps on old rags in the kitchen next to where their cows sleep. Janet helps in the house with cleaning and also with carrying water and firewood.
The family has a farm which they use for farming and they have planted maize and beans. They also have a kitchen garden and they have planted bananas, spring onions and cow peas.
Janet is showing promising talent in school. Her favourite subjects are science and reading and she also enjoys art, singing and group games.
The child is at a safe environment, she is loved and cared for by her family members.
