A Trip Chantelle Will Never Forget
I had been a child sponsor for over a year before I was lucky enough to meet my sponsored child and her sister.
At first, it was a very surreal moment as this little girl looked at me with these big eyes as if to say “who are you?” The social workers then introduced me, and we sat together looking at pictures of my family. It didn’t take long for a bond to form, and I was absolutely loving spending time with her. I also got to spend some time with her sister as they attend school together and it was such an amazing time.
I was allowed to take the girls to the shop with me, so we went and brought some bits for her and her sister. I must say this was my most enjoyable part of the trip just seeing the look in their eyes when they had a little present each. I also got to visit the girl’s house and meet their grandmother, and I was blown away with the way they welcomed me into their home.
This is a trip I will never forget and will one day return to visit them all again. I can’t tell you the joy it brings to know you are making a difference to a child’s life. It truly is a humbling experience that I can definitely recommend.
