Maryanne is the second born in a family of five children. Maryanne was four years old when her father died. She was left with her mother and her other step siblings. Her mother lives in Nairobi where she works in the city. She helps in supporting her child and Maryanne’s guardian with whom Maryanne lives.

The family live in a mud house built by the Nasio Trust. The family draws water from a nearby community water spring. They use it for cooking, drinking, laundry and cleaning. Her guardian practices domestic farming where she keeps chickens and two cows. The family owns a farm where they use it for farming, currently they have ploughed it in preparation for the next planting season. Maryanne helps with household chores and carrying water

At school Maryanne’s favourite subjects are art and languages. She also enjoys playing with dolls and jump rope.

What sponsorship means

The moment you start to support one of our children at St Irene’s or Noah’s Ark we instantly work on building that bond between you and your sponsored child. We’ll send you a Welcome Pack the moment your sponsorship begins and you will receive three updates throughout the year from us about your child – a home visit report, birthday update and a handwritten letter/drawing from your sponsored child.

We allocate the different sponsorship amounts you generously pledge according to the type of support needed by the children in our care. Your donation will help towards the costs of education, food security, health, psychosocial support, income generating activities and so much more!
