Beatrice’s home chores include carrying water from the nearby spring, cleaning and running errands. She loves playing with dolls and playing hide and seek.
Both her parents are primary school drop outs and they work hard as casual labourers because they want to provide a better life for their three children. Beatrice has two brothers.
The family live in a two roomed mud house with iron sheeting for a roof. Their pit latrine is made of similar materials and their bathroom is shielded behind the house with sacking.
In their kitchen garden they have planted maize, beans and cow peas. They also have some chickens that help with feeding the family by providing eggs.
