Grace is the last born in the family of three siblings. She used to live in Musanda with her parents but her parents separated. Grace, together with her two siblings, lived with their father but he was not responsible in providing for them. Circumstances forced them to live with their great grandmother who also is very old and unable to provide for the needs of Grace and her siblings. The children really needed to be looked after by someone who can closely monitor their growth and also help in providing for them. Grace and her siblings relocated to Kabula, Wamunyiri village to live with their grandmother. They now live with their grandmother and great grandmother. She is well settled at her grandmother’s home.

The family lives in a three roomed mud house with iron sheet roofing. They have an outside latrine and bathroom. The family owns a farm which they use for farming. They also have a kitchen garden but currently they have ploughed it in preparation for the planting season. The family has access to safe and clean water. Grace’s grandmother practices farming where she keeps chicken, cows and pigs.

The child is at a safe and loving home.  She helps with household chores and at school Grace enjoys reading.

What sponsorship means

The moment you start to support one of our children at St Irene’s or Noah’s Ark we instantly work on building that bond between you and your sponsored child. We’ll send you a Welcome Pack the moment your sponsorship begins and you will receive three updates throughout the year from us about your child – a home visit report, birthday update and a handwritten letter/drawing from your sponsored child.

We allocate the different sponsorship amounts you generously pledge according to the type of support needed by the children in our care. Your donation will help towards the costs of education, food security, health, psychosocial support, income generating activities and so much more!
