Judith is the youngest in a family of seven children. Her father sadly died in 2016, leaving the mother to look after her large family. Her mother works as a casual labourer. She also has a piece of land which she rents out to increase her daily income.
Judith and her family live in a semi-permanent mud house in Buchirinya village in Musanda. The family owns a mud pit latrine. Judith shares a bed with her younger siblings.
Her mother has a farm where she plants and gets enough harvest which lasts her till the next season. They have a kitchen garden where they have planted kales and sweet potatoes. The family draw their water from a nearby community spring and they use it for cooking and cleaning.
As a single parent her mother struggles to provide enough food for the family so her children don’t receive a balanced diet. Recently, Judith got malaria but was fortunately treated by The Nasio Trust George Mudenyo hospital.
Judith loves to read at school. When she is at home she helps out with the cleaning and helping in the kitchen. When she grows up Judith wants to be a teacher. Judith is a very active girl and during their Covid-19 break she participated in all the activities at the centre. She is in a safe environment where she is loved and cared for by her family members.
