Lodrine Aswani Ochieng

  • Date of birth: 18/07/2008
  • Support needed: None thank you! i

Lodrine is the second born in the family of three girls. She is a partial orphan who lives with her maternal grandmother. The grandmother depends on farming to support the family. After the death of Lodrine’s father, the mother was inherited by another man leaving Lodrine and her elder sister under the care of their grandmother.

The family house is old, which is a cause of concern. There is a pit latrine and bathroom but neither has a door.

Her grandmother has a farm where she plants and gets enough harvest until the next season. Currently they are preparing a kitchen garden where they want to plant indigenous vegetables.

Lodrine’s favourite subject at school is Maths. She also enjoys playing jump rope and singing.

When at home she helps her grandmother with the cleaning and collecting firewood and with jobs in the kitchen.

Lodrine is a very active girl and during their Covid-19 break she actively participated in all the activities at the centre.

What sponsorship means

The moment you start to support one of our children at St Irene’s or Noah’s Ark we instantly work on building that bond between you and your sponsored child. We’ll send you a Welcome Pack the moment your sponsorship begins and you will receive three updates throughout the year from us about your child – a home visit report, birthday update and a handwritten letter/drawing from your sponsored child.

We allocate the different sponsorship amounts you generously pledge according to the type of support needed by the children in our care. Your donation will help towards the costs of education, food security, health, psychosocial support, income generating activities and so much more!
