Stephen is the second youngest in a family of seven children and attends Buchirinya Primary school. His father died in 2016. All the children are under the care of their mother who finds it difficult in terms of paying schools fees and providing food. Stephen’s mother is a small-scale farmer as well as doing other casual jobs to earn a living and provide food for her family.

Stephen’s family are fortunate to have a toilet and a mud house built by the Nasio Trust. They collect water from a river created by the government .Stephen doesn’t have a bed so sleeps on an old cloth which he shares with his younger sister. At home Stephen helps out with the cleaning and in the kitchen and he also gathers firewood .

The family owns a farm where they have planted maize and beans .They also have a kitchen garden where they have planted vegetables and sugar cane.

At school Stephen’s favourite subject is science. He also likes art, running, toy cars and story telling.
